The 5 SUVAT Equations
For constant acceleration, these five equations fully describe 1D motion (s = displacement, u = initial velocity, v = final velocity, a = acceleration, t = time):
- v = u + at
- s = ut + ½at²
- v² = u² + 2as
- s = (u+v)t/2
- s = vt − ½at²
Important: These apply only to constant acceleration in a straight line. For variable acceleration, use calculus.
